COVID-19 Update April 27 2020

Brethren,

You are aware that in the latter part of April each year, a package of material is distributed to all Lodges which includes the details of our Annual Communication held at the Fairmont Royal York Hotel in July.

You may also have noticed that to date this year, no package has been received and therefore many of you are beginning to ask questions about the Annual Communication.

You can appreciate that the cancellation of a Lodge meeting or a District social event does not have the same ramifications associated with either the cancellation, postponement or modification of our Annual Communication. Rest assured that your Grand Lodge leadership is working overtime to find the most appropriate solution to this issue.

Presently we are still guided by the local and provincial stay-at-home guidelines which now extend to June 30, 2020. Those guidelines govern our negotiations with the Royal York Hotel, which are also ongoing at this time and which contain significant financial penalties tied to those guidelines.

We are exploring all options and the many ramifications of each in an effort to make the best choice possible for your Grand Lodge in this unprecedented time. Our goal is to communicate the action plan to you as soon as we possibly can.

In the meantime, we ask for your patience and understanding as we look for the most appropriate solution that will not compromise the health and welfare of our Masonic population. Please continue to reach out to your brethren and obey all the local and provincial health guidelines.

Fraternally,

Garry D. Garry Dowling,

Grand Secretary
